A Vision Evolved...
There aren't many opportunities to get back to most of the places I go due to the nature of the work I do. But like so many destinations, our eyes see them differently each time we visit - particularly when we are a bit older.
When you're a kid, things seem so big and it's almost disappointing when you revisit places as an adult only to find they [seemingly] shrunk. Photographic vision - or so it seems - is the exact opposite.
Pursuing vision is something that's been on my mind lately. A lover of all things related to getting the work done, I find solace in things that are becoming lost to time due to the advance of technology and man's ability to get more done with less. The natural progression of things is inevitably upon our world and the people within it - There are some who choose to do what they've always done...because really, why complicate it?
An inescapable as time, there are other factors that often dictate why processes fall away from the mechanized and rusty world the greatest generation knew all too well.
Part of my vision as a photographer is making sure the old stuff is never forgotten. Sure I'd be the first one in the room to tell you that technology and thoughtful design is great, but I'll never forget how I got here and where I came from.
